One of the joys of the last year for me has been the ability to participate in a community fitness class, especially organised for us Heart folk.
The survival of the class was threatened by the NHS bean counters but we patients banded together and helped to keep it going.
We've helped attract some new participants, too. It's great. And very effective.
One of our recent members now feels sufficiently confident to resume swimming, which is wonderful.
And, of course, I splashed out on my new bike! I do manage to do my laps of local parks on an almost daily basis. A year ago, I wouldn't have thought that I'd be cycling again.
I had been denied access to a cardiac fitness class in my previous borough - because I hadn't had surgery. Thankfully, in Ealing we have a more sensible approach and our class is open to stable angina patients like me, and their partners.
